Abstract

A videorecording of an interview with Capt. Eugene Barker "Red" McDaniel, a retired United States Navy Captain, Naval Aviator and former Prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. He was released from captivity on 4 March 1973, after 6 years of confinement. The interview is conducted by Dr. Gary McCaleb of Abilene Christian University. At the time of the interview, McDaniel was was President of the American Defense Institute, a non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., which he founded to increase public awareness of the need for a strong national defense.
