Alexander Campbell, Islay House, Laird Walter Campbell, Isle of Islay
Islay House was the estate of the Laird Walter Campbell of Shawfield (1741-1816), who took an interest in Alexander Campbell during the family’s stay in Bowmore and recovery from the shipwreck and invited him to visit Islay House. This is the view from the green restaurant dining room looking south toward Loch Indall Bay and the Rinns of Islay beyond it.
