Abstract
In 1906, the United States Department of Commerce conducted a religious census of the nation, marking the first "official" recognition of the division between Stone-Campbell churches that had been coming for decades. How did 1906 become symbolic of the division, and can the centennial of the census become a rallying point for reconciliation?
