Abstract

This collection of audiotapes and transcripts focuses on people prominent in the growth and development of African American Churches of Christ, particularly those with connections in Tennessee, Chicago, Illinois, and Detroit, Michigan. The topics covered include family history from the time of slavery, racial issues in the South, memories of the development of African American Churches of Christ, early church services, and issues of segregation both within the Churches of Christ and the community at large.
