Scope and Content Note
This collection contains some of the personal and professional papers of James L. Lovell. This includes correspondence, financial records, photographs, and books. They outline Lovell's involvement in missions, Pepperdine College, World Bible School, religious publications, and other charitable endeavors. These papers also reflect Lovell's active correspondence with his peers. This collection also includes carbon copies of correspondence, telgrams, and articles from Jimmie Lovell. The collection is housed in 45 boxes.
James Lovell was a prolific author and editor of religious publications. He served as editor for the following publications: Action Magazine, Colorado Christian, West Coast Christian, California Christian, Hogan's Helper. Also, Lovell wrote for Gospel Broadcast. In addition, Lovell edited and published "History of the Churches of Christ in California," and served on the Board of Trustees for Pepperdine College for 35 years. He was also active in missions and the World Bible School.
