Scope and Content Note
This collection contains some of the personal papers and materials of Claude A. Guild, including sermon outlines, notes, publications, scrapbooks, and awards. The collection also consists of pamphlets, personal papers, and sound recordings. The collection is housed in 12 boxes.
Claude A. Guild was born in Buffalo, Montana in 1916. He attended College of Idaho and Abilene Christian College, where he received his B.A. Guild also completed an M.A. in Religion at Pepperdine University. He was raised a member of the Lutheran Church, Norwegian Synod, but began serving as an evangelist for the churches of Christ. He has written several books on the matter of his conversion. In 1954, Guild was elected vice president of Columbia Christian College in Portland, Oregon. He also served as a member of the Board of Trustees. At the end of his career as evangelist, he was serving the Riverside Church of Christ in Fort Worth, Tex. Guild died in 1996.
