This document was prepared by R. L. Roberts from photostatic reproduction of the 1812 book. Roberts keyed in the text by hand into a word processor and this document bears what appear to be his last handwritten corrections and proof marks. Among Roberts papers is a photostatic reproduction of the title page, preface, errata, and a few other pages. This PDF includes these pages along with Roberts' hand-drawn map to accompany this text, showing several locations Thomas mentions in is narrative. Roberts also prepared an excellent index and other additional matter pertaining to Thomas.
This document precedes Thomas' much more widely known 1817 autobiographical journal (which was reissued in 1861) and includes information that the later editions lack. It is an unparalleled source of information about the early Christian Churches of Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio.
