One folder of photocopies of sermon outlines by George Phillip Holt, Sr. These photocopies were donated by Mike Tune, who received them from his father, Tom Tune. While preaching a gospel meeting in Old Hickory, TN, Holt lent a notebook of sermon outlines to Tom to copy.
George Phillip Holt, Senior was born in Tennessee on 14 May 1923 to M. F. and Thelma Bowser Holt. As a child he attended Bowser Christian Institute and was influenced by his grandfather, George Phillip Bowser. He married Olivia Busby in 1942. Together they had six children: Thomas Harold Holt, George Holt, Robert Holt, Carlton Holt, Winifred Holt Jackson and Phyllis Holt Davis. G. P. Holt served congregations in Oklahoma, Indiana, California, and Illinois. He was heavily involved with Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas, serving as a board member and receiving an honorary doctorate degree. He died on 3 February 2001.
