The interviewee, Tracy, speaks about the strict regulations surrounding dormitory life, including curfews, visitation policies, and dress codes, which were influenced by the university's Christian values. She also discusses the expectations placed on students in terms of behavior and academic performance. Tracy also reflects on past gender roles at ACU.

This interview provides primary source information on ACUs student life, dormitory rules, and student expectations during the late 1980s.

Comments

The ACC/ACU Gender and Sexuality Project preserves firsthand accounts of alumni of Abilene Christian College (later Abilene Christian University), with particular attention to how students, faculty, and staff have experienced issues of gender and sexuality during their time at the institution. The collection began in Fall 2019 as a class project in HIST 340, Historical Perspectives on Gender and Sexualities.
