Description
"Effects of starvation on children in Biafra" This picture was taken in the late 1960s in what was then called "Biafra," the state that broke away from Nigeria and led to the Nigerian Civil War. During and especially after the war, starvation was widespread among the Ibo people. Two American missionaries from Churches of Christ, Rees Bryant and Jim Massey, took a survey trip into Biafra to see how the church could be of assistance and were later involved in providing aid to the Ibo people of eastern Nigeria.
