Description
"The bottom is of burnt brick which Orville hauled 17 miles from Livingstone with the truck the good brethren helped Lester get. Orv. bought it from Lester. Lester let him have it for about $2000 less than it cost Lester. Brethren gave Lester about $775 on truck. He is so glad that it is in Africa working for the Lord." Orville Brittell, American missionary from Churches of Christ to Zambia (or what was then Northern Rhodesia), works with local workers on a new building at the Kalomo Mission out side of Livingstone, Zambia. John Sherriff and W. N. Short, American missionaries from Churches of Christ, began the mission in 1922. Orville Brittell joined them in 1939 and married Augusta Scott, daughter of George and O. R. Scott who were also missionaries from Churches of Christ who worked at the mission station.
