Scope and Content Note
The Randolph papers contain materials relating to Mission Journal and Brookline Church of Christ.
The institutional records of Mission Journal, as collected by Robert McMillan Randolph in his capacity as member of the Mission board of trustees, include correspondence, mailings, board documents, financial papers, a staff directory, articles, speeches, pamphlets, clippings, and manuscripts.
An accrual processed on February 27th, 2017, added seventy folders of correspondence, budget meetings and minutes, and material related to the history of Brookline Church of Christ, the Boston Movement, the Crossroads Movement, and the role of women in the church.
The collection also contains some of the personal papers of Robert Randolph. The papers center around two events: the Atlanta conference on race relations in 1969 and the founding of Brookline Church of Christ in Boston, Massachusetts. The materials in this collection include correspondence, printed materials, photographs, newsprint articles, and legal documents. Two bound copies of Lemoine Lewis' class notes and E.W. McMillan's Bible were removed from the collection to be cataloged. In addition, a framed article by Katie Hays (minister of West Islip Church of Christ) titled "Communion Meditation" is included. This article was written in reflection of the events occuring on September 11, 2001 and was in the Brookline Church of Christ Bulletin on September 30, 2001.
