Biographical Note
The following biographical note was excerpted from the Lubbock Abalanche-Journal:
“The first informal Christian worship service was led by H. M. Bandy in Singer’s Store near rural, undeveloped Lubbock, Texas on May 28, 1890. In November of the same year, Bandy returned to the area with a group of 5 charter members and their families to found Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas. S. W. Smith served as preacher of the congregation for 11 years before moving to become president of Lockney Christian College a few miles away. P. F. Brown assumed the position of preacher for the congregation in 1897. Services were held in a variety of locations throughout its establishment, including schoolhouses, the Nicolett Hotel, and the Lubbock County Courthouse. In 1898, Liff Sanders commuted between Lockney and Lubbock to preach for the congregation and finally moved to Lubbock permanently in 1900. Nearly 20 years later, S. W. Smith’s nephew John T. Smith took over as preacher of Broadway Church of Christ in 1919. He is responsible for much of the church’s growth at that time and established the current location and building of Broadway Church of Christ.”

Arrangement
Documents were rehoused into two boxes. One box contains the newspaper detailing the 75 year anniversary of the church and the other box has all the rest of the content. All the documents were arranged according to common association (which church or group created it) then filed accordingly, and then the files were ordered alphabetically.
