Scope and Content Note
Personal and ministerial papers reflecting a career in preaching, teaching and missions to Ghana and Tanzania, Africa. Several dozen boxes of papers, files, manuscripts, publications, correspondence, photographic materials and recordings, plus books, were received in March 2016. preliminary sorting included removing books and other published materials to cataloged holdings. Following a preliminary sort to remove many duplicate copies of files, workshop materials and other writings authored by Davenport, basic processing was undertaken to reassemble into series the Davenport papers.
Donor Note
Mary Davenport Martin, daughter of Dewayne and Jane Davenport.
Arrangement
Unboxing and preliminary sorting reveal a set of at least three major series: an early set of ministerial and preaching files, a set of Africa (Ghana and Tanzania) materials, and a later set of ministerial and missions-teaching files. On the assumption that these sets are more or less complete, the sets were ordered together, folded or refoldered as necessary, boxed and described.
