Biographical Note

Biographical note excerpted from obituary:

“Eileen R. Emch, age 68, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Manchester and Rittman, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at her home in Dallas. She was born on July 30, 1952, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Lloyd and Lillian (Walters) Emch, and graduated in 1970 from Manchester High School.

Eileen earned a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Abilene Christian University in 1975. She completed a master’s degree in 1987 from the University of North Texas and a Doctor of Philosophy from Texas Tech University in 1990.

From 1975 to 1999, Eileen held successive teaching positions beginning in Melbourne, Australia, followed by position at Warren-Harding High School, Irving High School, ACU (Professor), and West Mesquite High School.

In 1999, Eileen followed a call into the mission field, and became the “Hands and Feet” of Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. She was passionate about her Rostov church family, the Russian people, and other churches on the continent, including the church in L’Vov, Ukraine. She had a servant heart and touched countless lives with her adventurous spirit and meaningful gestures of kindness. She often described herself as a “Gypsy for Jesus”. Her dream was to continue serving in Russia until the Lord called her Home.

Eileen returned to the United States in 2020 to renew her visa. Due to a delay in returning to Russia, caused by international travel restrictions, she planned to serve as the Prestoncrest Church of Christ’s librarian.

Surviving siblings are Dan Emch of Canton, OH; Debbie (Jay) DeJong of Sumas, WA; David Emch of Charleston, SC; Ben (Sue) Emch of Dayton, OH, and five nephews and two nieces. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents.”
