Abstract
A new word has risen in our church glossaries: "missional." This word is attached to a body of literature and a growing movement amont congregations focused on a shift in how the church perceives its life in a rapidly changing North American context. Several congregations are expressing a desire to be more "missional." But what does that mean? For the past five years, an organization, Church Innovations, has been studying congregations and their supporting networks inquiring about the potential for missional change. Patrick Keifert, the director of CI, has worked with ACU and Churches of Christ to help us understand better both the challenges and potential for missional transformation within our congregations. Pat and others will help us think more clearly about what it means to be both missional and a Church of Christ.
