Description

"RUGGED CHARACTERISTICS of buildings gracing the Tanglin Road property in Singapore are seen from this remarkable view of central structure. Although these buildings are not new, they are handsomely constructed and in first-class state of repair. Commodiousness of these quarters can be compared with size of Sisters Rice and Lim and Brother Wong, shown smiling before the front portico. Cost of the property (including land, buildings and estimated renovations needed) is U.S. 66 cents per square foot." This was one of the properties Ira Y. Rice Jr., American missionary from a cappella Churches of Christ, looked into purchasing for the first Church of Christ congregation in Singapore. He eventually settled on a property on Moulmein Road.
