The annual Restoration Day is hosted by the Center for Restoration Studies (CRS) at ACU. Part of CRS’s mission is to help Christians remember key events and personalities from our shared past that have brought us to the present. Restoration Day’s date of September 7 has been selected because it marks the anniversary of Thomas Campbell’s publication of The Declaration and Address, a foundational document that helped give birth to our branch of Christianity.
The Center for Restoration Studies (CRS) supports scholarship on Stone-Campbell Movement history and theology, provides accessible teaching about this history and identity, and supports the Special Collections and Archives at ACU in its work to acquire, preserve, and make accessible archival materials from the Movement.
The ACU College of Biblical Studies (CBS) and Brown Library have jointly administered the CRS since its founding in 1984. The CRS Director, housed in the CBS, develops programs, teaching tools, and works closely with the Director of the Special Collections and Archives, who serves as the point person for acquisitions and manages archival holdings.
