Introduction
This issue of Discernment opens with an exploration of homiletics. In his article, “Reading in Frames: A Guide for Homiletics,” Mason Lee presents an overview of the study of preaching. Using the concept of frames, he organizes the literature in that discipline and describes important exemplars of that work. Falon Opsahl Barton continues a series of articles she began in the previous issue (Volume 10, Issue 1). Her essay, “A Synthesis of the Spirituality of Emerging Adults,” presents an overview of the spiritual tendencies of 18 to 29-year-olds in the United States. Her second article, “A Qualitative Exploration of Spiritual Practices of Simplicity among Emerging Adults,” presents the results of her research into the pro-environmental practices of simplicity among emerging adults. Myles Werntz concludes this issue with a book review of Tim Judson’s Awake in Gethsemane: Bonhoeffer and the Witness of Christian Lament.Articles
