Biographical Note

The following biographical note is excerpted from Larry Everette Hall’s obituary:

“Larry was born November 2, 1946, in Wichita, Kansas to Thomas Howell (‘T.H.’) and Mary (Peeler) Hall. He grew up in Medford, Oklahoma. He received his BA in Bible with a minor in Psychology from Abilene Christian College (Abilene, Texas) in 1969 and his Master's Degree in Religion from Pepperdine University (Malibu, California) in 1977. At ACC he met and married (in 1968) Janet Louise Stell of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and together they had two children, David and Elizabeth. Larry served as a minister in Churches of Christ for most of his life, working with congregations in California, Texas, and Oregon. He served in youth, preaching, and family life ministry, and also worked as a marriage and family counselor in private practice and for churches. He taught for the Austin Graduate School of Theology for eleven years, and led seminars for churches and businesses in leadership, conflict, and communication throughout his career.

Larry loved to read and write and was the author of No Longer I: Being Transformed into the Image of Christ, first published in 1999 and reissued in a new edition as No Longer I: A Life Transformed in 2011. He was a talented musician who loved to sing, play the piano and guitar, and compose hymns and songs. He was known for his compassion for others, his teaching and speaking skills, his infectious smile and humor, his love for words and jokes, and his amazing storytelling. He lived courageously with Parkinson’s Disease for over fifteen years.”
