Comments

Thomas Campbell was born near Newry in 1763. Many of his family remained in the area and several are buried in the church yard of St. Patrick's Church of Ireland. Thomas ministered in Sheepbridge near Newry. His brothers Archibald and Enos had a school in Newry where Alexander was both a student and, later, a teacher. This stone in the east wall of the church yard reads "Underneath lieth the mortal remains of Enos Campbell of Newry who departed this life May 26, 1805 Aged 27 years." Below this inscription is a memorial to Elizabeth Campbell who died April 16, 1856, at the age of 86.
