Comments

After finishing the 1808-1809 school year at Glasgow University, Alexander Campbell spent June and July, 1809, in Helensburgh, a seaside village northwest of Glasgow, tutoring children of Glasgow families who were spending the summer there. This view of the center of Helensburgh looks uphill from the pier to the hills north of the seaside. The steeple of the Helensburgh Parish Church rises above the town.
