Comments
Islay House was the estate of the Laird Walter Campbell of Shawfield (1741-1816), who took an interest in Alexander Campbell during the family’s stay in Bowmore and recovery from the shipwreck and invited him to visit Islay House. This is the dining room of the house where Alexander "spent many pleasant hours" (Richardson, 1868, vol. 1, p. 106).
