Abstract
"The Green Mile," "The Legend of Bagger Vance" and "Bruce Almighty" are noteworthy examples of movies casting black actors with supernatural powers. Even though the concept of the "Magic Negro" first surfaced in the early 1950s, the notion that Marshall Keeble seemingly possessed magical powers dates back to the 1930s. How does the concept of the "Magic Negro" apply to Marshall Keeble? What does the concept teach us about race relations in the larger American Context and especially in the Churches of Christ?
