Abstract
S.R. Cassius died in Colorado Springs, Colorado, August 10, 1931. The same week, Marshall Keeble ended a gospel meeting in Valdosta, Georgia, with 166 baptisms. The death of Cassius coincided with the rise of Marshall Keeble as the premier black preacher in Churches of Christ. How were the two men similar? How were they different? What made Cassius and Keeble unique?
