Abstract
Dr. Jerry Taylor tells the story of his life in Churches of Christ, which began in Covington, Tennessee, near Memphis. He tells of early training at the Hatchie Church of Christ leading singing, preaching, and attending business meetings, all of which led to his commitment to caring for local congregations. He charts his course from school at Southwestern Christian College to Southern Methodist University and the various congregations for which he worked in Texas and North Carolina before moving to Abilene Christian University, where he still resided at the time of the interview. He discusses his life as a preacher and his work for racial justice and unity before reflecting on key challenges facing Churches of Christ.
